Chiquito and Dominican Power will dance at the 13th edition of SALSA WEEK ROMANIA in Vama Veche between August 7th and 13th, 2017

Yovanny De Jesus Moreta, known as Chiquito, born in Santo Domingo, on October 17, 1981, is a Dominican dancer who is specialized in Caribbean dances.

His five-year dance studies led him to perform as a professional in 1991, and later in 1994, he had the opportunity to come to New York at Eddie Torres School.

In 1996, after his transfer to Italy, his dancing career was enriched by the victory of four national dancing championships, respectively from 1999 to 2003, in the specialties of Cuban salsa, Puerto Rican salsa, bachata, and merengue.

In 2004 he started collaborating with Seo Fernandez as part of his „Latin Black” group, but in 2007 he founded the company „Dominican Power”, in which he is artistic director and first dancer and with whom he continues to perform in over fifty Congresses every year on all five continents.

Dominican Power project was born from Chiquito’s will to create an innovative reality in the dancing world, a reality in which salsa, hip hop, reggaeton, capoeira, afro, and rumba could coexist in a rare synergy orchestrated by Chiquito’s very hands.  After winning 2 years in a row the award as the best dancer in Italy (handed over by the master Eddie Torres), Chiquito started to build up one of the most admired dancing company in the international scene and since then, they won multiple awards and medals.

Dominican Power are requested in the most glamourous salsa congresses worldwide (Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, Tokyo, Sidney), getting a lot of success as a group and individually with the solo performance of their first ballerina from the group, Alice.

Together with Chiquito and Alice Dominican Power is formed by Miguel, Ambra, Josè, Giorgia and the young Salomè.

The SALSA WEEK ROMANIA Festival is one of the most popular Latino dance festivals in Romania, and has become more and more popular nowadays.

The fact that dance has evolved a lot lately is due to the fact that more and more people have realized that dancing, exceeds far the level of a simple passion and is very beneficial to the human body.

Most people see dancing as a simple way to spend your free time. But dance is much more. Specialists have defined dance as one of the easiest and most fun ways to keep the body moving, and in addition, practicing dance is recommended because it brings with it a number of other benefits such as stress reduction, protects the heart and energizes the body.

The Romanian Dance Association alongside with the Wilmark Dance Academy will stage the biggest Latin show in Romania during the 13th edition of the Romania Salsa Week festival, 2017. For seven days, the participants will live „the real latin Flavor „through dance lessons and demonstration shows performed by Romanian champions, representatives of salsa schools in the country and special guests of the event. By becoming a standard event, the Romania Salsa Week festival is entirely dedicated to Latin-style music and Latin-dance enthusiasts in the country and abroad, also known as the „Salsa Dancers Holiday”.

The contests that will take place at the event will be:

1. Salsa Week Contest – Team Contest 2017

Only full-time, week full-time, full-weekend passes can be registered.

The 1st place is rewarded with the title Best Romanian Salsa Team and the ammount of 500 EURO.

1. Freestyle Latin Dance Contest 2017

Only full-time, week full party or bracelet visitors can enter the contest on the day.

The 1st place is rewarded with the title Best Romanian Salsa Freestyle Couple and the amount of money gathered from all enrollment fees.

1. Jack & Jill Contest

Registration is free of charge.

Only those who have a full-time week Pass may enter the competition.

The 1st place is rewarded with the Full-Salsa Salsa Week Pass of 2018.

1. Romania Latin Dance Cup 2017 Contest

Only people who have the Week Pass, Week Vama Party Pass, Weekend Vama Pass, or Weekend Customs Party Pass may enter the competition.

The first place is rewarded by qualifying at the „World Latin Dance Cup” in Miami, USA, a contest founded by Albert Torres.
